Hey, Health Seekers! I love sharing health tips and little known facts about the foods we eat every day. I believe it helps people eat more of the good stuff when they truly understand the nutritional value and health benefits. Today, I want to open your eyes to the value of getting more beta-carotene carrots on your plate.
You may have thought is was just a myth, but carrots really can help your eyesight. This is largely due to the vitamin A derived from the beta-carotene content which give carrots their orange color and also their name. Beta carotene, like all carotenoids, is an antioxidant. Several clinical studies have shown the antioxidants we absorb through our diet, help boost the immune systems, protect against free radicals, and lower the risk of developing cancer and heart disease.
If you've come through cancer (as I have), chances are you have heard of Gerson Therapy, a nutrition system that involves a specialized diet, raw juices, detoxification, and supplements. Dr. Max Gerson developed the Gerson Therapy™ in the 1930s, initially as a treatment for his own debilitating migraines, and eventually as a treatment for degenerative diseases such as skin tuberculosis, diabetes and, most famously, cancer. A typical patient on the Gerson Therapy™ for cancer consumes up to thirteen glasses of fresh, raw carrot-apple and green leaf juices. It is believed the nutritious juice protects cell membranes from toxin damage and slows the growth of cancer cells. And this spills over into other uses...
Glowing Skin With Carrot Oil
Carrot seed oil is a well kept beauty secret. The carrot root oil if mixed with any of the other base oil cures dry skin problems and rejuvenates the basal layer. It works due to the presence of beta-carotene and vitamin A in carrots which keep your skin alive and glowing. Carrot oil can help maintain the elasticity of the skin which naturally begins to wrinkle and sag as we age. The oil is the key ingredient in countless skin care products, and also protects skin from sun damage and wrinkles. Carrot root oil also provides an all natural, tanning boost to your skin when applied. Think of it like Mother Nature's own self-tanner. You can make your own beauty carrot oil by clicking here.
DIY Skin Care Remedies
If you want an all natural glow, just grate one carrot and mix it with a spoonful of honey. Apply this mixture on your face and leave it for 15 minutes. By using it regularly you will soon notice a warm, natural glow to your skin.

Girls that mask? Here's one you simply have to try. For a carrot skin mask, you just need raw carrots and organic lemon juice. Grate the carrot and add the juice of a lemon juice. Combine and apply this mixture on your face and neck. You can do the same with cooked carrots by blending them and adding 5 tbsp honey or yogurt. Apply it and leave it for 15-20 minutes. One of the best 100% natural masks I've ever tried.
Face tonic? Oh yes you can! By mixing pineapple and carrot juice you can make a fine blend for glowing skin. Pineapples contain bromelain enzymes which helps in acne treatment and healing of skin problems. Bromelain makes the skin firm and flexible and the juice provides elasticity to the skin by synthesis of collagen. Combine and apply this mixture on your face; and leave it for 15 minutes. Wash it and pat it dry. Glow girl, glow!
